cPanel & WHM must be installed on a clean, supported Linux distribution. The installer replaces significant parts of the system configuration, so it cannot be run on a server that already has another control panel installed.

Before you start

  • A supported OS: AlmaLinux 8/9, Rocky Linux 8/9, CloudLinux 8/9 or Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 LTS
  • Root access over SSH
  • A static IPv4 address, which the license validates against
  • At least 1 GB RAM and 20 GB free disk space

Run the installer

Terminal
cd /homecurl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latestsh latest
Run as root. The installation typically takes 20–40 minutes.

Activate the license

Once the installer finishes, WHM is available on port 2087. Log in as root and complete the initial setup wizard. If the license was purchased for this server's IP address, it validates automatically.
