Overview

CloudLinux OS is a Linux distribution built for shared hosting. Its LVE (Lightweight Virtual Environment) technology caps the CPU, memory, I/O and process count available to each hosting account, so a single busy or misbehaving site cannot degrade the whole server. CageFS isolates each user's file system view, and the Alt-PHP stack lets accounts choose from many PHP versions independently.

Features

  • LVE resource isolation

Per-account limits on CPU, memory, I/O, and entry processes prevent one site from consuming the server.

  • CageFS

Gives each user an isolated file system view, hiding other accounts and sensitive server files.

  • PHP Selector

Lets each account select its own PHP version and extension set without affecting other accounts.

  • MySQL Governor

Monitors and throttles database usage per account to prevent slow queries from stalling the server.

  • HardenedPHP

Security patches for older PHP branches that no longer receive upstream support.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to reinstall my server to use CloudLinux?

No. CloudLinux converts a supported existing installation in place. A full backup is still strongly recommended before conversion.

Does CloudLinux work with cPanel?

Yes. CloudLinux integrates with cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin, and exposes LVE limits inside the control panel interface.
