Overview

VirtFusion manages KVM hypervisors and the virtual servers running on them. Administrators add hypervisors, define server packages and provision instances; the customer who buys one gets their own panel for power control, reinstalls, console access and network configuration, without a support ticket for each of those. It integrates with billing systems so that a paid order provisions a live VPS. Licenses are issued per hypervisor rather than per virtual server.

Features

  • KVM hypervisor management

Adds and monitors hypervisors, and places new virtual servers on them according to available capacity.

  • End-user control panel

Customers reboot, rebuild, resize and reinstall their own VPS, and reach it over a browser console when the network is down.

  • Billing integration

Connects to billing systems so a completed order provisions a virtual server automatically.

  • Template-based deployment

Deploys from operating system templates so a rebuild returns a known-good starting state.

  • Resource and network control

Per-server CPU, memory, storage and bandwidth limits, with IPv4 and IPv6 address assignment.

System requirements

Operating system

  • AlmaLinux OS 8 or 9
  • Rocky Linux 8 or 9
  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

Hardware

  • A dedicated server with hardware virtualisation (Intel VT-x or AMD-V) enabled in firmware
  • A static IPv4 address for the hypervisor, plus addresses to assign to guests

Other

  • Root/SSH access to each hypervisor
  • A separate host for the control panel is recommended in production

Installation

The VirtFusion control panel is installed on a dedicated host over SSH as root, and each hypervisor is then enrolled from the panel. The license is activated against the control panel's IP address at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Is the license counted per hypervisor or per virtual server?

Per hypervisor. The number of virtual servers you run on a licensed hypervisor is limited by its hardware, not by the license.

Does VirtFusion support container virtualisation?

No. It manages KVM, which gives each virtual server its own kernel. Container platforms such as LXC are outside its scope.

Can customers access their server if networking is misconfigured?

Yes. The end-user panel includes a browser-based console that reaches the virtual server independently of its network configuration.
